Jay was a "desk jockey" for 26 years before having a mid-life crisis and discovering the joy of alpacas. Strangely, it was his mum's fault; whilst house hunting in Devon she came across these "genetically modified sheep with long necks for looking over Devon hedges"?!

Anyway, embarking on a very steep learning curve, Jay discovered that these unusual animals were easy to keep, intelligent and profitable.

So, in 2004 he and Hilary bought 4 alpacas, caught the bug, moved into alpacas full time in 2007 and now have over 60.

Over Jay's time in alpacas, he has become a qualified BAS Judge and Tutor, studied specialist alpaca behaviour and handling in the USA and has lectured both here and abroad in a range of disciplines.
